No other place connects so many names and events in world history: the famous Großer Wendelstein formed the fairytale backdrop for the DEFA classic "Sleeping Beauty" (1970). Martin Luther consecrated the first new Protestant church here. At Napoleon's request, the town and castle became part of the Saxon-Napoleonic fortress. After the Congress of Vienna, it served as barracks. A special highlight: the bears - a tradition since 1425.
All these facets of the castle's history are illuminated in an entertaining and informative way.
