ATTENTION - STEP 6 (start/end): Until the end of 2020 the staircase to the Heinrichsburg in Seußlitz is closed due to construction work!As an alternative access to the Saxon Wine Trail please use the Elbe Cycle Route from Seußlitz to Weingut Jan Ulrich and from there follow the original route to Löbsal etc. Or you can walk from Seußlitz along the forest road and the Seußlitzer Grund to the Radewitzer Straße (Gut Radewitz) and from there on "Am Brummochsenloch" to the Weingut Jan Ulrich, where you will find the original route Rtg.   The Saxon Wine Trail connects the pearls of the Dresden area along the river Elbe and leads to the most beautiful vineyards, viewpoints and wine cellars. The baroque and modern Dresden, the picturesque Pirna, the villa and garden city of Radebeul and the porcelain city of Meissen - these are just a few of the historically significant stages of the Saxon Wine Trail. Striking evidence of over 850 years of winegrowing in the Elbe Valley can be found, as well as modern wineries and cosy wine bars. Here you can taste the rare drops of more than 60 grape varieties - including Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir, but also Traminer, Scheurebe and the Goldriesling, which is only grown here on the Elbe.

Hiking from Pirna to Dresden, the hiking and wine lover will pass beautiful villas and magnificent castles. A detour into the old town of Dresden leads to the Zwinger, Semper Opera and Frauenkirche. In Radebeul the hiker should take time to visit the Saxon Wine Museum Hoflößnitz and the first adventure winery in Europe at Wackerbarth Castle. The journey continues to Meissen: the imposing castle hill with the cathedral and Albrechtsburg Castle can be seen from afar. The WineExperienceWorld of the Saxon Winegrowers' Cooperative Meissen offers extraordinary insights into the history and present of winegrowing. At the end of the hiking trail, the winegrowers and hosts of the numerous historic wine taverns in Diesbar-Seußlitz invite you to visit them.

The Saxon wine hiking trail is divided into 6 daily stages with an average of 15 to 18 km or 5 to 6 hours of walking per day.

The logo and marking sign of the Saxon Wine Trail is a red grape with a red S above it.
