With picturesque views of Thalheim and the Zwönitztal valley, this hike is also suitable for families. The “Rentners Ruh” model village is worth a visit from May to October.
Starting at the train station in Thalheim, which is on the national network, you will pass via the model village hiking along the idyllic, historical Pionierweg towards Christelgrund. We recommend a detour to the idyllic pond in the forest.
After a challenging ascent to the Flügelhöhe, you are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the Zwönitztal valley. Continue through the enchanting forest to discover wildly romantic trails. Again and again, you will witness damage wreaked by Storm Fabienne in 2018.
Enjoy picturesque panoramic views passing numerous huts and the forest camp site, which can be booked on request. Descending to the “town of three fir trees”, you are sure to discover one or two restaurants where you can round off your tour with regional or international cuisine.
